Sommelier

Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Sommelier to join our team in delivering an exceptional dining experience. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of wines and beverages, along with the ability to provide outstanding customer service in a fine dining environment. This role is crucial in enhancing our guests' culinary journey through expert wine pairings and recommendations.

Duties

• Curate and manage the wine list, ensuring it complements the menu offerings.
• Provide wine recommendations to guests, enhancing their dining experience through expert knowledge.
• Conduct tastings and educate staff on wine selections, upselling techniques, and food pairings.
• Collaborate with the culinary team on menu planning to create harmonious pairings.
• Maintain inventory of wines and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations during service.
• Assist in banquet and catering events, providing wine service and guidance.
• Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining a high level of customer service.
• Engage with guests to create memorable experiences through personalized service.

Requirements

• Previous restaurant experience is essential, preferably in a fine dining setting.
• Strong knowledge of wines, including varietals, regions, and tasting notes.
• Experience with Aloha POS or Micros POS systems is preferred for efficient order processing.
• Skills in menu planning and culinary experience are highly desirable.
• Proven sales skills with a focus on upselling beverages to enhance guest satisfaction.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with guests.
• Experience in serving, food handling, and food safety practices is required.
• Familiarity with banquet service and catering operations is a plus.
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining attention to detail. Pay: $24.62 - $29.65 per hour
