Specialized Community Support Worker

Job Summary: Specialized Community Support Workers (SCSW) support clients to develop life skills, create and attain goals, social skills and/or access to community resources. SCSW's provide individual care and guidance proven to be valuable for the needs of the individual’s mental health, behavioural, and environmental challenges. SCSW's provide stability through predictable structure, clear expectations, and through positive behaviour support. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate skills in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, problem solving, and proficiency in written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:
- Provide support and assistance to individuals with various needs

- Assist with daily living activities, such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication reminders

- Create a safe and supportive environment for individuals

- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution when required

- Promote independence and encourage individuals to participate in community activities

- Document and report any changes in behavior or health status

Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with others

- Patience and empathy when working with individuals with diverse needs

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet

- Ability to educate individuals on various topics related to their needs

- NVCI skills certification considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50-$24.45 per hour
