Staff Services Manager Ii (Managerial)

This position is eligible to telework up to three (3) days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. This is subject to change based on operational need and/or future return to office orders. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director (ED), the Staff Services Manager (SSM II), working title of the position is, Chief of Administrative Services (CAS) plans, manages, and directs the business services of CAPIAA. CAPIAA outsources accounting, budgeting, informational technology and human resources functions to the Department of General Services (DGS) and the California Department of Technology (CDT). The SSM II will act as the liaison between CAPIAA and DGS, CDT, the Cal Travel Store, FISCAL Department, Department of Finance (DOF), the California Department of Human Resources (Cal HR), and Department of Social Services (DSS), providing management, support and oversight of business functions. SSM II is responsible for CAPIAA's full realm of fiscal operations and administrative functions and personally performs most sensitive and complex duties associated with essential services relating to CAPIAA's business services' needs. SSM II will be responsible for the execution of special projects.

Department Information

The California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs (CAPIAA) was established in 2002 and is charged with elevating the political, economic, and social issues of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIA), in the state.The Commission advises the Governor and the Legislature on how to best respond to views, needs, and concerns of the state's diverse and complex APIA communities. Additionally, the commission provides assistance to policymakers, state agencies, departments, and commissions to develop appropriate responses and programs that
meet the needs of APIA communities, including focus on cultural language sensitivity, and hate incident and hate crime prevention measures.
