About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Steel Erector Supervisor to lead field crews in the safe and efficient erection of structural steel for commercial and industrial projects. You will be responsible for overseeing site operations, coordinating with other trades, enforcing safety protocols, and delivering projects on time and under budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate steel erection crews on-site
- Plan and execute work schedules, sequences, and logistics
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and design specifications
- Conduct safety meetings and regular site inspections
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades
- Track and report on progress, labour hours, and costs weekly
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Represent the company at contractor meetings and site walkthroughs
Requirements
Certifications & Qualifications:
- Valid Basics of Supervising certificate (approved provider)
- Recognized as a “Competent Person” under OHSA
- Valid Working at Heights certificate (MLTSD-approved)
- Valid CWB welding certificate
- Certified to operate Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)
- Valid driver’s license
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years supervising commercial steel erection projects over $100,000
- Experience with rigging, hoisting, and structural framing systems
- Strong leadership experience managing field crews in fast-paced environments
Skills:
- Excellent communication, planning, and time management
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Computer-literate (email, timesheets, reporting)
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of working at heights and in various weather conditions
- Able to lift 50 lbs, kneel, bend, and make frequent site inspections
- Must pass any job-related physical and safety training as required
