Job Description

Position Summary:

The Preclinical Surgical Research Laboratory (PSRL) seek a motivated undergraduate summer intern to support hands-on research in orthopaedic musculoskeletal biomedical engineering. The intern will work under the supervision of graduate students and PIs on experimental and/or computational studies aligned with translational orthopaedics and FDA Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)-informed workflows, including tissue biomechanics, material/model development, regenerative scaffold design, and preclinical device evaluation.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist with specimen/tissue preparation, benchtop testing, and data collection

  • Support computational workflows (e.g., data processing, basic modeling/FEA support as applicable)

  • Maintain organized records, follow lab SOPs, and contribute to research documentation

  • Participate in lab meetings and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team

Supervision:

No supervisory duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled undergraduate in engineering, biomedical sciences, or related field

  • Strong attention to detail; ability to follow protocols and work safely in a lab environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred: experience with MATLAB/Python, CAD/3D printing, biomechanics, or wet-lab methods

Salary Range

15.50-25.00
