We are now looking to appoint a summer worker for the ODIN Instrument team in the Diffraction and Imaging division.
About the position
The ODIN team is responsible for developing a neutron imaging instrument that will enable time-resolved 2D and 3D studies of complex materials and processes. As a unique feature, ODIN will also include a laboratory-based X-ray point source to enable dual-modality imaging, combining neutron and X-ray techniques within the same experimental environment.
As a summer worker in the ODIN team, your main tasks will be to support the ongoing development of geometric calibration procedures for the X-ray imaging setup. This includes implementing and validating calibration routines, analyzing imaging data, and contributing to the documentation and open-source codebase.
About you
A suitable background for this position would be:
- Ongoing or completed MSc studies in physics, engineering, imaging science, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework in imaging, image processing, mathematical modelling, or scientific programming (e.g. Python).
- Good written and oral communication skills in English.
- Minimum age 18 years.

Duration and location
This is a summer work position of 4 weeks. Planned start date is June 16, 2025 or per agreement.
Your workplace is on-site at ESS in Lund, Sweden.
