Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sushi preparation, food handling, and kitchen operations within a fine dining setting. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating authentic and innovative sushi dishes, maintaining high standards of food safety and presentation, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This role offers an opportunity to showcase culinary expertise in a dynamic and upscale environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Plan menus that incorporate fresh ingredients, seasonal offerings, and customer preferences
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety regulations
  • Handle all aspects of food preparation including slicing, rolling, and plating sushi with precision
  • Manage inventory levels for seafood, rice, vegetables, and other ingredients to minimize waste
  • Ensure all food handling procedures comply with health codes and safety standards
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service during busy hours
  • Assist in catering events or special functions requiring sushi preparation
  • Monitor quality control to ensure consistency in taste, appearance, and freshness

Skills

  • Proven experience in sushi making within a restaurant or fine dining environment
  • Strong knife skills and proficiency in various food preparation techniques
  • Knowledge of food safety protocols and proper handling of raw seafood
  • Culinary experience with a focus on Asian cuisine or Japanese culinary traditions
  • Excellent menu planning abilities to create appealing sushi options
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience in food service, food industry standards, and kitchen operations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Creative flair for presentation and innovation in sushi creation
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
