We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Sushi Chef and Hot Kitchen Specialist to join our vibrant culinary team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese delicacies with precision and artistry
- Cook hot dishes such as tempura, grilled items, rice bowls, and other specialty items according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain high standards of food handling, safety, and sanitation in accordance with health regulations
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes or modifications based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Ensure all food preparation meets quality standards for taste, appearance, and freshness
- Manage kitchen stations efficiently during service hours to ensure timely delivery of orders
- Collaborate with team members to uphold a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or in a similar role within fine dining or Japanese cuisine settings
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, including knife skills specific to sushi rolling and hot dish cooking
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus, emphasizing food safety and proper handling practices
- Experience with menu planning, catering, or food service operations preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent food industry knowledge including kitchen experience, culinary skills, and understanding of the food service process
- Commitment to food safety standards and proper sanitation procedures
- Ability to serve guests professionally with enthusiasm and positive attitude
