Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in sushi preparation, food handling, and kitchen operations within a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role offers an opportunity to showcase creativity in sushi artistry while maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi dishes, ensuring quality and presentation, and delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Duties

  • Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to traditional techniques and recipes
  • Handle food preparation tasks including slicing, rolling, and plating sushi ingredients with attention to detail
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations in compliance with food safety standards
  • Ensure all food handling procedures meet health regulations and safety protocols
  • Serve customers directly when necessary, providing excellent food service and answering menu-related questions
  • Assist in meal preparation for other Japanese cuisine offerings as needed
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate supply needs to management
  • Collaborate with team members to uphold the restaurant’s quality standards and efficient workflow

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a Sushi Chef within a restaurant or food industry setting
  • Strong knowledge of sushi techniques, food handling, and safety regulations
  • Experience in serving customers directly with professionalism and courtesy
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation
  • Kitchen experience including familiarity with various culinary tools and equipment used in sushi preparation
  • Knowledge of food safety practices relevant to the restaurant industry
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization skills, and a passion for Japanese cuisine
  • Previous restaurant experience is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential

Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
