ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for directing and managing the day-to-day operations of a dedicated team of stevedores engaged in loading and unloading ships. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on Health, Safety & Environmental concerns providing a safe work environment for all. We are searching for someone who is an excellent problem-solver with willingness to get their hands dirty to assist stevedores where possible. The 3i Tauranga operation is a 24/7 business encompassing 8 and 12-hour day and night shifts inclusive of weekends and public holidays. This is not an office-based role with over 75% of responsibilities directing operations on-board the ship or on the wharf. In this role, you will be prepared to travel to other ports as a foreman to assist if and where required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Conducting pre-start toolbox meetings
- Ensuring the overall safety of the operations team (including contractors and other PCBU's) through appropriate communication of traffic management plans, operating standards, and procedures
- Ensuring all operational equipment is operated correctly and maintained to OEM standards while managing repairs when required
- Managing cargo flow through the effective use of cargo management systems
- Providing appropriate reports to customers, management, and other key stakeholders and therefore need to have some basic computer skills, Excel and Word including email communication via Microsoft Outlook

PLEASE NOTE: The successful candidate must hold a full NZ Driver's Licence Class 1, and be prepared to undertake training to attain Class 2 with WT&R's. A pre-employment medical and D&A assessment must be performed if the successful candidate is being transferred from another Port.
