This position is responsible for overseeing the tax compliance and planning functions in the company, ensuring adherence to local tax laws and regulations, and providing strategic guidance on tax-related matters. This role is critical for ensuring the company’s tax compliance while minimizing tax liabilities and identifying opportunities for savings. It’s a leadership role that also requires deep technical expertise in taxation
KRA 1: TAX COMPLIANCE
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns (e.g., VAT, Income Tax, Withholding Tax) in compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
- Manage the preparation and submission of annual income tax returns (ITR) for individuals and the organization.
- Review tax payments and filings to avoid penalties and ensure proper compliance with tax deadlines.
- Ensure all tax processes and documentation are in line with corporate governance practices and comply with local laws
- Promote awareness of tax compliance across the organization and ensure that management is well-informed about the tax implications of business decisions.
KRA 2: TAX REPORTING
- Coordinate the preparation of tax provision for financial statements in accordance with accounting standards (e.g. BIR).
- Assist in the preparation of tax audit reports and resolve tax-related issues raised by tax authorities.
KRA 3: TAX PLANNING & STRATEGY
- Provide strategic advice on tax planning, structuring transactions, and identifying tax-saving opportunities.
- Stay informed of the latest developments in Philippine tax laws, government regulations, and international tax practices and ensure that the company is always compliant with the latest tax laws and regulations.
- Analyze the impact of potential tax reforms or changes in tax laws on the company’s operations.
- Advise on corporate tax strategies, including transfer pricing, cross-border taxation, and other tax-related concerns.
KRA 4: PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Oversees the work deliverables of the direct reports through regular guidance and coaching to ensure effective execution of responsibilities
- Leads the execution of performance management process in one’s team through partnership with direct reports so the latter can deliver what is expected of him/her (i.e., accomplishment of one’s performance targets)
- Develops a team and individual scorecard and conducts regular performance reviews to identify opportunities
- Supports one’s direct reports in their developmental plans so that the employees can address any competency gaps and/or achieve their career goals within the organization
- Leads the recruitment and selection of employees in one’s team to ensure that the right candidate fill up the role
- Identifies and develops key talents and/or potential successors in one’s team to ensure continued success of the team
- College Graduate, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is essential
- A Master's in Taxation or equivalent advanced degree is often preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in tax management or senior-level tax advisory roles, with experience in both direct and indirect taxation
- Significant experience in corporate tax, transfer pricing, tax audits, and international tax matters.
- Preferably with experience in Commercial and Manufacturing industry
- Extensive knowledge of Philippine tax laws and BIR regulations, along with international taxation practices.
- Expertise in tax compliance and reporting processes is required.
- Ability to analyze complex tax issues, provide strategic advice, and develop tax-efficient solutions.
- Attention to detail. High level of accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing tax filings, documents, and reports.
