It’s bad manners to talk about money. Unless you’re in Finance & Accounting or Controlling & Analysis—the two large teams comprising Finance at BCG. Not only do these professionals talk about money all the time, they also really have to know what they’re talking about, since they’re responsible for accounting, taxes, payroll, travel management, and time and billing at BCG. In addition to purely financial workflows, they also ensure that our consultants have the best possible basis for making decisions in our various respective markets.
What You'll Do
As a Tax (Junior) Specialist at BCG, you will support both local and global functions with a strong focus on the operational processing of payroll tax items related to benefits in kind. Working closely with your team, you will be responsible for the flat-rate taxation pursuant to §§ 37b and 40 EStG, including the monthly processing, assessment, calculation, and documentation of hospitality, events, gifts, and other noncash benefits.
Your role includes reviewing untaxed data, processing taxable information using the Wage Tax Calculator, and ensuring the correct, complete, and timely monthly taxation of all relevant benefits. You will verify supporting documentation such as pretax sheets, participant lists, and event agendas, and ensure proper filing, traceability, and compliance for each event.
You will act as a key contact for internal stakeholders regarding the correct handling and taxation of benefits in kind and support compliance with payroll tax regulations. In doing so, you will work closely with internal interfaces such as Payroll, Corporate Accounting, HR, and the Expense and Accounts Payable teams, as well as external service providers. You will also manage requests received via a central team mailbox.
In addition, you will support ongoing and external payroll tax audits, stay up to date on changes in payroll tax legislation, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement and optimization of internal processes.
What You'll Bring
- You have completed a commercial apprenticeship or vocational training, ideally as a tax clerk or in a finance-related field.
- You have gained initial hands-on experience in operational finance or payroll tax topics; for example in financial accounting, payroll, or the field of German wage tax law.
- You are confident in working with the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, and are comfortable handling structured, recurring tasks in a Windows-based environment.
- You communicate clearly and reliably in both German and English, with excellent German and good written and spoken English skills.
Who You'll Work With
As a Tax (Junior) Specialist, you’ll be part of the Finance Team, which includes more than 70 employees. Locally, you will work with six experienced colleagues spread across the Munich and Düsseldorf offices. The team’s collaboration is characterized by respect, acceptance, and mutual trust. You will report to the Finance Manager—Tax, who will be there for you during your orientation phase.
