We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Oncology Specialist Registrar to join our dynamic medical team in the role of Team Leader.
This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician with a strong background in oncology, leadership experience, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care in a supportive, collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading clinical teams, contributing to the delivery of high-quality oncology services, and supporting the development and mentorship of junior medical staff.
The role will involve direct patient care, involvement in research, and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, ensuring the highest standards of care for oncology patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of junior medical staff, ensuring effective and efficient clinical operations within the oncology department.
- Clinical Care: Provide comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care for oncology patients, including inpatient, outpatient, and multidisciplinary settings.
- Training & Mentorship: Mentor, educate, and support the professional development of junior doctors and medical staff, ensuring high standards of practice.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, tumour boards, and clinical discussions to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Research: Engage in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to advance oncology care and maintain current best practices.
- Patient Advocacy: Champion a patient-centered approach in all aspects of oncology care, ensuring that patient needs, comfort, and dignity are prioritized.
- Administrative Duties: Participate in departmental meetings, prepare reports, and contribute to policy and guideline development for oncology services.
Essential Requirements:
- Medical Degree and Full Registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)
- Specialist Registrar training in oncology (or equivalent international experience) with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant oncology setting.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing or leading clinical teams.
- Strong clinical knowledge of oncology and familiarity with current evidence-based treatment protocols.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding clinical environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
Desirable Skills:
- Research experience or interest in clinical trials and innovations in oncology.
- Familiarity with advanced IT systems used in medical practice.
- Ability to contribute to teaching and training within a teaching hospital environment.
