About the role
We are looking for an Electrical Technician Equipment Reliability (TER) with an electrical focus to identify opportunities to extend equipment component life and prevent early life failure.
This role is a great opportunity for a passionate and self-motivated electrical specialist who has exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You will support our Reduction maintenance team working in a flexible, fast-paced and improvement focused environment.

Reporting to the Superintendent Reduction Maintenance and working in a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:
- Providing support and structure to defect elimination efforts liaising with the planned and reactive maintenance leadership team and team member.
- Analysing scheduled maintenance data to identify opportunities to extend component life and prevent early life failure. Facilitate Root Cause Problem Solving to review repeat instances of detecting abnormal component deterioration.
- Supporting the delivery of PMO activities to ensure the chosen tactic delivers an optimum labour, materials, and business impact. Update relevant documentation for standardisation of maintenance master data and critical practices e.g. CBPs, SPLs, drawings, BOMs, Critical Maintenance Tasks.
- Keeping abreast of defect elimination practices and liaise with similar roles in across Rio Tinto including our other smelters at BSL and Bell Bay.
- Assisting in the long-term planning both ACRA and Capital, working with procurement on CEA’s, Tenders and contract delivery.
What you will bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Electrical Trade or relevant Engineering qualification
- Experience in PLC programming and Variable Speed Drives
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experiencing identifying and leading continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience with SAP business systems as applied to maintenance
- High computer literacy
- Experience in contractor management including HSE, work scope and commercial
- High level of written and verbal communication skills.
