Tourism Management Intern

The company manages the following leading tour operator brands: Monster Day Tours, Lion Heartlanders, 8xplore, Chinatown Heritage Centre and UBE, each specializing in innovative tour concepts that connect culture, history, and community in meaningful ways.

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Tourism Management Intern to join our team in 8xplore. This internship offers hands-on exposure to the tourism industry, providing opportunities to develop skills in tour operations, logistics coordination, customer engagement and event execution. You will work closely with both local and international guests while supporting the delivery of high-quality tourism experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in pre-tour coordination, including procurement of goods and services, and liaising with clients, tour guides, transport vendors, venues and stakeholders
  • Support the planning and execution of our tours
  • Assist with tour logistics, scheduling, inventory management and operational administration
  • Engage with guests before, during and after tours to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Support post-tour activities, including collection of guest feedback, content monitoring across platforms such as TripAdvisor, Google Reviews, Facebook, Xiao Hong Shu, and TikTok
  • Assist in managing communications with Mandarin-speaking clients and guests, ensuring professional and welcoming experience
  • Support tour operations on the ground as a facilitator, coordinator, game master, or administrative support personnel
  • Work closely with sales and business development team to ensure smooth tour delivery
  • Liaise with finance team on procurement-related matters
  • Assist with tour development projects, research and site recce activities when required
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

*A $50 transport allowance will be provided.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written), as the role involves regular communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and guests
  • Comfortable communicating with people from diverse backgrounds and delivering excellent customer service
  • Confident in public speaking and comfortable facilitating activities or managing groups during tours and events
  • Detail-oriented, organized and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proactive, resourceful and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility
  • Familiarity with digital communication and social media platforms such as WeChat, Xiao Hong Shu, TikTok or similar platforms is advantageous
  • Experience engaging clients from China, familiarity with Chinese culture, studying or living in China, or a strong interest in the China travel market will be an advantage
  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, events, customer service or related fields is a plus

Pay: $950.00 - $1,150.00 per month

Work Location: In person
