Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers.

Caterpillar is now offering an exciting internship opportunity for an individual who is passionate about Supply Chain. The Transportation Procurement Intern will be exposed to a full spectrum of transportation procurement functions, work on projects, and the opportunity to engage with senior leaders within the Asia Pacific region.

What You Will Do:

  • Participate in getting Rate Quotations from Carriers as part of the Rate Requests /Ocean Freight Amendment process to manage the rate depository

  • Support Market Intelligence concerning Industry and Carrier news/developments and Benchmarking Ocean Freight rates

  • Participate in Internal Sourcing Strategy Meetings

  • Participate in Supplier Performance/Negotiation/Escalation Meetings & Discussions

  • Support Business Case related tasks associated with Internal Stakeholders

  • General admin tasks such as: Rate comparison Analysis and Summary / Volume reconciliation between Caterpillar and Carrier / Freight Rate/Allocation database management

What You Have:

  • Undergraduates pursuing a bachelor’s degree in either: Logistics / Supply Chain / Industrial Engineering

  • Strong organizational, time management, presentation, and communication skills

  • Team player with an ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures

  • A self-starter, who can work independently and demonstrate high level of motivation and drive

  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability

  • Demonstrates a strong appetite for learning

  • Common sense – boots in the dirt, let’s do the work mentality

  • You are curious and inquisitive

Learning Outcomes

With us you will:

  • Participate in projects on Global Ocean Freight Tender. You will learn:
    a) Process
    b) Strategy
    c) Compliance
    d) Analysis

  • Experience and participate in Stakeholder meetings and learn how to navigate/tune your communication towards Senior/Vice Presidents.

  • Computer/technology skills: Exposure to SalesForce / Infor Nexus / Keelvar Bidding Tool

  • Specific skill-building: Core Negotiation Skills / Strategic Sourcing / Tender Management (Bidding tools) / Procurement Compliance / Procurement Operations

  • Project-related skills: Global Tender Management exposure/skills/experience

  • Employability-enhancing activities: This is a Global Role which gives candidate enhanced exposure / experience which will make resume stand out as compared to a regional role

Additional Info:

  • This position requires working onsite five days a week.

  • The office is located at 14 Tractor Road.
