Veterinary Technician

Experienced Technician: Full-time or Part-Time.

We are a busy Veterinary Hospital in need of an experienced Technician. Candidate must have open availability and be able to work Monday through Friday and 2-3 Saturdays per month. Please only apply if you are a serious candidate looking for a long-term place of employment.

• Taking care of boarding and hospitalized patients.
• Assisting with exams, procedures (including dental cleanings), x-rays, and surgeries.
• Knowledge of taking TPRs and rooming appointments.
• Administering injections, placing IV catheter, giving subcutaneous fluids.
• Filling medication, calling for authorization.
• Surgery/procedure check-in and surgery/procedure discharge.
• Lab work including but not limited to: urinalysis, fecal floats, drawing/running bloodwork.
• Relay appropriate information to/from clients to doctors and/or management.
• Client education - Including but not limited to: vaccine protocol, prescription food, medication, lab work, preventatives, insurance, etc.
• Identify and work compassionately with clients in various emotional states as well as work patiently with distressed, frustrated or disgruntled clients.
• Assist in the reception area when needed with check-in/out, phone calls, and scheduling appointments.
• General cleaning throughout hospital.
• Monitoring the inventory of items for sale by the practice and restocking these, as needed.
• Maintain proper documentation in the medical record.

Other: Technicians must possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, be responsible, compassionate, have a positive attitude, follow-through and have excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multitasking and accepting constructive criticism are essential. Punctuality and reliability are expected. This job description does not necessarily cover every task or duty that might be assigned. There may be additional responsibilities assigned as necessary.

**We are offering approx. 35-40 hours per week for full-time and 20-30 for part-time. Must be able to work closing shifts, some full days and some half days (we are open from 8am to 6pm during the week, but shifts may end later) and 2-3 Saturdays per month (open 8am to 1pm on Saturdays)**
