Welding Fabrication Intern
Step into a real industrial shop and build practical skills in welding, metal fabrication, and day-to-day shop operations. This internship is a hands-on path for students and entry-level candidates who want to learn MIG, TIG, and stick welding, blueprint basics, and safety-first habits.
A day in the life
You start by gearing up with PPE and reviewing the day’s priorities with senior welders. You prep metal by cutting, grinding, and cleaning. Under guidance, you set up welding equipment, practice reading welding symbols and measurements, and support assembly work. Throughout the shift, you help with quality checks, keep the workspace orderly, and take part in training sessions to sharpen your technique.
What you’ll practice
- Hands-on exposure to MIG, TIG, and stick welding under close supervision
- Reading basic blueprints, welding symbols, and measurements
- Shop safety protocols, PPE use, and safe tool handling
- Metal fabrication and assembly fundamentals
How you’ll contribute
- Assist senior welders with MIG/TIG/Stick welding tasks
- Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces
- Set up welding equipment and tools under supervision
- Learn and follow welding symbols, measurements, and basic blueprints
- Support in assembling metal structures and components
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Perform basic quality checks on welded parts
- Follow company safety protocols and PPE requirements
- Participate in training sessions to improve technical skills
