Accounting Intern

Your Position: Accounting Intern Job Location: Christchurch, NZ Our Department: Finance Internship Period: 18th November 2024 - 14th Feb 2025 Recruitment Timeline: Interviewing May/June, offer by Mid-July Are you looking to gain some exposure to accounting practices within a global organisation? What You Will Do Join as our Accounting Intern this summer where you will be embedded within a locally-based and regionally focused finance team that analyzes financial information. Our team is responsible for preparing journal entries and the month-end balance sheet reconciliations for entities in the APAC region. During your internship you will get exposure to:

• Month end accounting - Journal entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Record fixed asset dispositions in our Oracle ERP system
• Drafting year end financial statements
• Rollforward workpapers for the new fiscal year
• Corresponding with financial auditors
• Performing analysis of financial information including the Profit & Loss
• Supporting process improvement tasks

Please note: in this role you will be supporting our finance team with Year End preparation, this means that you will be expected to work in between the Christmas / New Year dates excluding public holidays. What Skills and Experience You Should Bring

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance or similar at a New Zealand University
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets
• Efficiency to effectively meet tight deadlines
• Flexible approach to working in a changing environment and can work well under pressure
• Ability to analyze data and suggest conclusions/recommendations to others
• Attention to detail
• Curiosity and willingness to learn
