Head Barista

Education - Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Food Technology, Business Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field (preferred but not required with strong experience

Professional Experience

  • 3-5+ years experience in a specialty coffee environment
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role (e.g., Senior Barista, Assistant Manager)
  • Demonstrated experience in cafe operations, including daily workflow, inventory, vendor coordination, and customer service
  • Experience or strong interest in product development (menus, beverages, seasonal offerings, testing)

Core Skills

Cafe Operations

  • Advanced espresso & manual brew techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of coffee extraction, machine calibration & grinder management
  • Store-level operational planning (opening, closing, shift scheduling)
  • Inventory forecasting, supply chain tracking, and cost control Quality standards enforcement and SOP implementation Excellent customer service and guest experience focus
  • Cash handling and POS system proficiency

Product Research & Development

  • Menu concept creation and taste profile developmentCoffee sourcing & evaluation (green beans / roast profiles)
  • Collaboration with roasters, suppliers, and partners V Recipe standardization and documentation
  • Trend spotting (coffee trends + F&B consumer behavior)
  • Ability to conduct trials, blind tastings, and data-driven testing

Leadership & Business Acumen

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team mentoring skills
  • Ability to manage performance and lead people through changes
  • Problem solving and decision-making under pressure
  • Solid communication skills (English + Filipino)
  • Ability to prepare reports (sales, wastage, productivity, product performance)
  • Espresso machines (La Marzocco, Modbar, Rocket, etc.)
  • Grinder setups & maintenance
  • Coffee extraction science (TDS, yield, brew ratios)
  • Manual brewing devices (V60, Chemex, Aeropress, etc.)
  • Capable of:
  • Conducting cuppings / sensory evaluation
  • Leading product innovation sessions
  • Integrating feedback into iterative development cycles

  • Coffee certifications (e.g., SCA Barista Skills, Brewing, Sensory)
  • Experience in menu revitalization or launching new products
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACP, local BIR requirements)
  • Experience working with local roasters or coffee producers.
