Construction Workers (Simonds Group)

Simonds Group builds residential homes employing construction workers, tradespeople, and site supervisors.

A Construction Worker is responsible for helping build, repair, and maintain buildings, roads, and other infrastructure. They work on construction sites under supervision of site managers, engineers, or foremen.

Main Duties

General Construction Work

Assist in building houses, roads, bridges, and structures

Carry and move materials like cement, bricks, timber, and steel

Load and unload construction supplies

Site Preparation

Clear and level construction sites

Dig trenches and foundations

Set up scaffolding, barriers, and safety equipment

Assisting Skilled Trades

Support carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and welders

Mix and prepare concrete or mortar

Hold or pass tools and materials during work

Maintenance & Cleanup

Clean construction sites daily

Remove debris and waste materials

Ensure tools and equipment are stored properly

Safety Duties

Follow workplace safety rules and regulations

Wear protective equipment (helmets, gloves, boots)

Report hazards or unsafe conditions

Skills Required

Physical strength and stamina

Ability to work outdoors in all weather

Teamwork and communication

Basic tool handling skills

Awareness of safety procedures

Ability to follow instructions

Qualifications (varies by country)

No formal degree usually required for entry-level roles

Construction safety training (White Card in Australia) often required

Vocational certificates (e.g., Carpentry, Civil Construction) helpful
