General Handyman / Maintenance Technician (Retail Stores)

Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable and skilled General Handyman / Maintenance Technician to perform repairs and general maintenance in retail store locations. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in active retail environments.

This position can be structured as either an employee role or a subcontractor arrangement, depending on experience and availability.

Responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and maintenance in retail stores
• Fix doors, locks, hinges, shelving, displays, and fixtures
• Basic plumbing repairs (leaks, clogs, faucet replacement, etc.)
• Basic electrical tasks (lighting, switches, outlets – where permitted)
• Drywall patching, painting, and minor carpentry
• Flooring repairs (tiles, vinyl planks, trim)
• Mount signage, mirrors, fixtures, and equipment
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner
• Keep work areas clean and safe
• Communicate clearly with management regarding completed work and required follow-ups

Requirements

• Proven experience as a handyman or maintenance technician
• Comfortable working in retail environments during or outside store hours
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of maintenance issues
• Strong attention to detail and quality of work
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Own tools preferred (required for subcontractors)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in retail, commercial, or multi-location environments
• Basic understanding of building maintenance systems
• Flexibility with scheduling (evenings/weekends a plus)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44 per week
