Our client is a leading Australian manufacturer with a reputation for quality, innovation and continuous improvement. As part of a significant investment in manufacturing capability, they are building out a program of work focused on lifting efficiency, productivity and capability across their production operations - through a combination of process improvement, automation and smart manufacturing initiatives.

This newly created role offers the opportunity to play a key part in shaping that future. You will identify, scope and deliver improvement and automation projects that reduce costs, improve quality and increase production capability across the plant. Working closely with Operations, Engineering and external technology partners, you will lead projects from concept through to implementation.

This role is ideally suited to a Manufacturing Engineer who understands production environments and is excited by the opportunity to drive meaningful operational improvement - whether through smarter processes, better systems, or automation.

The role:

  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity and quality through continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Lead improvement and automation projects from business case development through to implementation and commissioning.
  • Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and opportunities to improve throughput and reduce cycle times.
  • Partner with Operations and Production teams to understand challenges and prioritise improvement initiatives.
  • Scope, evaluate and manage external technology providers, system integrators and equipment suppliers where relevant.
  • Support the introduction of new technologies, equipment or systems that improve production capability, where automation is the right solution.
  • Develop project plans, budgets and ROI justifications for capital investment projects.
  • Ensure new processes and solutions integrate effectively with existing operations and safety requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the plant's core production processes.

About You
  • Degree qualified Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineer.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven experience delivering manufacturing improvement, automation or capital equipment projects.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify improvement opportunities and build compelling business cases.
  • Experience managing suppliers, contractors or external technical partners.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to influence and drive change across a manufacturing operation.
