We have an exciting opportunity for a National Renewal Manager to join our Department of Corrections and Ministry of Justice team, taking a pivotal role within our high-performing operations division. Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will drive operational excellence and lead the delivery of high-quality, reliable outcomes that support the seamless delivery of our essential national services.
Te Kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
Downer holds long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management (AM/FM) contracts with the Agencies - Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ). These contracts support nationally critical justice and custodial infrastructure and are delivered within formal public-sector investment, assurance, and governance frameworks.
- Provide national technical leadership across building services and asset renewal disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, fire, hydraulic, and building fabric.
- Translate operational, compliance, and strategic asset needs into clearly defined, investment-ready project scopes and business cases.
- Lead technical investigations, asset condition and risk assessments to inform renewal prioritisation and solution selection.
- Develop technical briefs, options analyses, feasibility assessments, and cost estimates aligned to public-sector investment frameworks.
- Manage the national renewal pipeline, ensuring projects are prioritised, risk-assessed, and ready for procurement approval.
- Contribute technical expertise to procurement strategies, tender documentation, evaluations, and value-for-money assessments.
- Engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, site leadership, consultants, contractors, and governance forums.
- Provide assurance-grade reporting on programme progress, risks, and achievement of agreed investment outcomes.
- Ensure all renewal initiatives meet statutory compliance, quality, safety, security, and risk management requirements.
- Experience in Corrections, Justice, project delivery, or property and facilities management considered highly beneficial, alongside a commitment to living the Downer values.
- Proven ability to build strong, effective relationships across all levels of the organisation and with key clients.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives forward.
- Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to identify, research, and develop improvement initiatives.
- Well-developed analytical, communication, and computer skills, with experience using asset management systems advantageous.
