About the Role

This is an exciting role suitable for an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced RANZCOG trainee.

This position offers a unique opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice with junior medical leadership, governance exposure, and service development within a supportive and well‑structured department.

The Chief Registrar appointment includes full clinical responsibilities as a Senior Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar, with participation in the on‑call roster.

The specific clinical component of the role can be tailored to the successful applicant to support:

  • Individual career aspirations
  • Completion of RANZCOG Advanced Training modules
  • Opportunities to teach, supervise, and mentor junior medical staff

This is a fully supported role, with close guidance from senior clinical and executive leadership.

  • Our unit provides exposure to advanced laparoscopic surgery, colposcopy, outpatient hysteroscopy, urogynecology, high risk pregnancy, labour ward management and obstetric ultrasound. Options for audit and research are available.
  • RANZCOG trainees are prioritised to attend surgical lists and if appropriate there will be the opportunity for the advanced trainee registrar to have independent lists with SMO back up.
  • Specific learning opportunities can be tailored to the individuals needs and goals they have to meet their specific RANZCOG advanced training requirements.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
