Hours of Work: Hours of Work: Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours and up to 40 hours per week, rostered between 9:00 am and 10:00 pm, Monday to Sunday, including weekends and public holidays.

About Mithaiwala
Mithai Investment Limited, trading as Mithaiwala, is an established and growing hospitality business operating multiple Indian restaurants across Hamilton, Auckland and Tauranga. The business is known for its authentic Indian cuisine, excellent customer service and catering services for weddings, corporate functions, religious events, private celebrations and community gatherings.

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Restaurant Manager to join our Hamilton operations.

About the Position
This is a permanent, full-time Restaurant Manager position based in Hamilton. The successful applicant will primarily work across Mithaiwala's Frankton and Five Cross Roads restaurants. Occasional travel to the company's Auckland restaurant may be required to provide operational support, staff training or management assistance; however, Hamilton will remain the employee's permanent place of work.

The Restaurant Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurants, ensuring efficient service, high operational standards and excellent customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will undertake duties that include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, organising, directing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.
  • Managing restaurant staff, including supervising daily performance and providing leadership and guidance.
  • Recruiting, interviewing, inducting, training and developing employees.
  • Preparing and managing staff rosters to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Monitoring labour costs and staffing requirements.
  • Ensuring exceptional customer service is consistently delivered.
  • Resolving customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness and customer service.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Food Act requirements, food safety programmes, licensing requirements and health and safety obligations.
  • Monitoring stock levels and arranging the ordering of food, beverages and restaurant supplies.
  • Liaising with suppliers and maintaining effective supplier relationships.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and implementing effective stock control procedures to minimise waste.
  • Assisting with budgeting and monitoring restaurant operating costs.
  • Monitoring daily sales performance and implementing strategies to improve profitability.
  • Coordinating catering bookings and events, liaising with customers and kitchen staff to ensure catering services are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Preparing operational reports and maintaining business records.
  • Ensuring restaurant facilities, equipment and dining areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Implementing company policies, operational procedures and service standards.
  • Assisting with promotional activities and local marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinating operations between the Frankton and Five Crossroads restaurants where required.
  • Managing cash handling procedures and ensuring accurate reconciliation of daily takings.

Skills and Experience Required

Applicants must possess one of the following:

  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience OR Any New Zealand Level 4 qualification or higher (or an equivalent overseas qualification).
