Position Summary:

The Security Technician I or II will be responsible for a range of project-based assignments, including interpreting reports, shop drawings, wiring schematics, and product manuals. This role involves programming new systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and clearly communicating findings and resolutions to customers. Strong computer literacy is essential, as the technician will work extensively with application software related to the systems being serviced, tested, or installed.

Schedule: Frequent visits to job sites; schedule may shift depending on customer availability.

Work Setting: Onsite

Pay: $32 - $50 per hour, depending on experience

About the Position:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned as needed.

  • Set up and run initial programming and tests on new electronic systems or equipment according to shop drawings and design manuals.
  • Test and repair various fire and life safety systems to locate and identify problems and make repairs.
  • Upgrade software and run tests on existing systems to maintain current operating systems and functionality.
  • Perform regular testing, inspections, and maintenance on existing systems to ensure systems are operating correctly and to minimize downtime.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records for work performed, including tests run, inspections performed, troubleshooting steps performed, system changes and system repairs.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 06 Low Voltage Electrical License
  • NICET I or II Fire Alarm or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent on-the-job training
  • 5+ years of electrical industry experience (preferred)
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to work well with all levels of personnel

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:

This position requires the ability to perform essential physical functions, including standing, walking, reaching, and bending for extended periods; occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and frequently lifting up to 20 pounds; climbing ladders; and crawling through attics and crawl spaces as needed. The role also requires the ability to drive extended distances to and from appointments and a willingness to stay overnight in company‑provided accommodations when required.
