Senior Bar Person

About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Bar Person to take a leading role behind the bar at The Bull in Navan. This is a busy local pub with strong regular trade and busy weekends, so we need someone who knows their way around a bar, can handle pressure, and help guide junior staff during service.

This role suits someone who is confident, reliable, and capable of stepping up to support the manager when needed — someone who leads by example and keeps standards high on every shift.

Key Responsibilities Behind the Bar

Serve drinks quickly, correctly, and professionally
Keep the bar clean, organised, and fully stocked during service
Support opening and closing procedures
Maintain strong knowledge of drink offerings and bar systems

Customer Service

Deliver fast, friendly, and consistent service
Build rapport with regular customers and create a welcoming atmosphere
Handle customer issues calmly and resolve them where possible
Support the manager in maintaining service standards

Team Support

Help guide and support junior bar staff during shifts
Step in to keep service moving during busy periods
Set the standard for work ethic, attitude, and professionalism
Assist with training new staff where required

Cash Handling

Use the till system confidently and accurately
Handle cash and card payments responsibly
Assist with end-of-shift cashing procedures when required

Compliance

Follow licensing laws at all times
Challenge for ID where required
Refuse service where necessary in line with responsible serving practices
Maintain health & safety standards across the bar area

Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience working behind a bar
Experience working in a busy pub or late bar environment
Strong knowledge of draught systems and drink service
Confident working independently and supporting junior staff
Comfortable dealing with customers and handling busy periods
Reliable, punctual, and capable of taking responsibility during shifts

Working Hours

Mix of full-time and part-time hours available
Evenings, weekends, and late nights required
Flexibility expected based on business needs

Package

Pay: €16–€18 per hour (depending on experience)
