Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to seek out, lead, and oversee low-rise residential construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive construction knowledge, and proficiency with industry-standard management software. This role irequires a strategic thinker capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. This role also contains an important business development responsibility, requiring the candidate to have sales experience in order to seek out construction opportunites for the company. The Senior Construction Project Manager will play a pivotal role in driving project success while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
Duties
PM
- Develop and review detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets using construction management software.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, contracts, and technical drawings to ensure accurate execution of design specifications.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate seamless communication and project alignment.
- Manage procurement processes including construction estimating to secure materials and services efficiently.
- Oversee daily site operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress through regular site visits, meetings, and reporting; adjust schedules as needed to meet deadlines.
- Lead project teams in utilizing construction management software effectively for scheduling, tracking progress, and documentation.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies proactively throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all work complies with contractual obligations, quality standards, and environmental regulations.
BD
- Identify and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospective clients and project opportunities.
- Conduct regular outreach through meetings, phone calls, networking events, referrals, and other business development activities.
- Submit a monthly business development report outlining prospective clients contacted, opportunities identified, follow-up actions taken, meetings held, proposals supported, and anticipated next steps.
- Collaborate with company leadership in developing strategies to secure new business and expand existing client relationships.
- Represent the company professionally at industry events, trade associations, and networking functions.
- Support the preparation of proposals, presentations, budgets, and project interviews as required.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager or similar role with a minimum of 10 years in the construction industry.
- Proven experience in Business Development or similar role with a minimum of 10 years in the construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating techniques.
- Proficiency with project management tools and construction management software platforms.
- Strong background in civil or residential construction projects with demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects effectively.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently across multiple projects.
- Experience leading diverse teams of subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff while maintaining clear communication channels.
- Relevant certifications or training in construction management or related fields are preferred.
- Sales Experience is preferred.
- Existing Ottawa network of potential clients to hire the company for residential construction is prefered.
