Global Commercial Services (GCS) is a leader in the commercial payments solutions space. This exciting and fast-growing business seeks to drive the success of businesses around the world, rooted in the truth that when our business customers thrive, so do we. We strive to serve all of our commercial clients, from the mom-and-pop store on Main Street to the largest global business.

We’re looking for undergraduate level interns to support the GCS product vision as a Product Manager Intern. The successful candidate will own a project related to one of our banking, cash flow, or payments products. This person will contribute to product vision, strategy, and delivery of our digital products and gain invaluable experience as a Product Manager. Product Managers at American Express play a central role identifying customer needs, building outstanding experiences, and leading teams to manage these products. This is a fast-paced team driving the development of commercial customer solutions at American Express.

Successful candidates will be placed within one of the below teams:


  • Business Blueprint & Banking (BB&B) is changing the way small businesses manage their cash flow. Applying automation and real-time data, American Express Business Blueprint provides small businesses a suite of integrated cash-flow technologies from flexible lines of credit, digital business checking accounts, fast payments and predictive business analytics.

  • Business Financing, Payments, and Digital Experiences (BFPD) develops and manages leading products and capabilities to connect buyers with suppliers and make it easier to send and receive payments. Products include B2B Automation and APIs, Virtual Payments and Central Travel Booking, Digital Experiences and Platforms, and Supply Chain Solutions & Partnerships.

  • Commercial Card Products (CCP) designs and manages the product roadmaps of our core Card payment products and solutions. Building best-in-class customer experiences, we aim to meet the needs of small, medium and large commercial customers through a range of proprietary products and partnerships.

Skills & Experience


  • Demonstrated interest in commercial payments, digital products, and product management.

  • Accountability for the end-to-end experience, immersed in the customer experience and performance metrics.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to distill down complex concepts or problems.

  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to continually learn about the changing payments landscape and emerging technologies.

  • Ability to collaborate with and build strong relationships with leaders, colleagues in different time zones, and cross-functional partners to deliver value.
  • Independent thinker who’s organized, has great attention to detail, and can multi-task.

  • Strong project management skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrated resilience, proactive problem solving, ‘can do’ attitude, and optimism in changing circumstances.

  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving continuous process improvement.

  • Proficient in analytical and presentation tools, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Educational & Work Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time Graduate degree program

  • Students must have a graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025

  • 1-3 years of previous work experience

Salary Range: $38.45 to $87.00 hourly + sign-on bonus.

The above represents the expected hourly pay range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
