Job Posting: Childcare Centre Chef / Kitchen Lead

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and independent Chef / Kitchen Lead to join a busy childcare centre.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys preparing healthy, child-friendly meals and snacks, takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and is confident working independently.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning and creating nutritious weekly or monthly menus for young children
• Preparing fresh breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily
• Preparing age-appropriate meals for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children
• Creating vegetarian and non-vegetarian options when needed
• Managing allergies, dietary restrictions, and food preferences carefully
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
• Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times
• Keeping track of inventory and preparing grocery/supply lists
• Reducing food waste through proper planning and portion control
• Communicating professionally with management regarding menus, supplies, and kitchen needs
• Working independently and taking ownership of the kitchen and meal program

The ideal candidate will be:

• Experienced in cooking for children, schools, childcare, or large groups
• Creative with menu planning and comfortable preparing healthy meals
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage time well
• Knowledgeable about food safety, allergies, and proper kitchen procedures
• Able to work independently without constant supervision
• Warm, professional, and respectful

Requirements:

• Food Safe certification preferred
• Previous kitchen or meal preparation experience required
• Criminal record check may be required
