Fleet Operations Coordinator

To ensure MTI’s operational efficiency and compliance by completing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, coordinating fleet detailing operations, supporting dispatch functions, and serving as a backup driver when necessary. This role is key to maintaining safety, cleanliness, and excellence in service delivery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

These include the following with additional duties assigned as needed or appropriate.

Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections (Peak Times)

  • Conduct and document thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections using established SOPs.
  • Ensure all inspection reports are signed by both the coordinator and the driver.
  • Communicate any identified vehicle issues to dispatch and document them in Samsara.
  • Ensure fuel levels are sufficient and vehicle amenities are stocked.
  • Assist drivers in parking and maneuvering vehicles safely in the MTI lot.

Dispatcher Support (Off-Peak Times)

  • Support dispatch operations including trip monitoring, driver communication, and logistical coordination.
  • Update schedules, assist with route assignments, and provide directions to drivers.
  • Respond to real-time issues and ensure smooth trip execution.

Detailing Oversight

  • Assign vehicles to detailers and ensure use of vehicle detailing checklists.
  • Inspect completed vehicles for quality control and cleanliness.
  • Sign off on completed checklists along with detailers and ensure detailing standards are consistently upheld.

Backup Driving Responsibilities

  • Serve as a backup driver in case of call-outs or emergencies.
  • Must be fully capable of driving all fleet vehicles including SUVs, Sprinters, shuttle buses, minibuses, and motor coaches.

Qualifications:

  • CDL with Passenger Endorsement (Required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in transportation, fleet operations, or dispatching preferred
  • Proven experience with vehicle inspections, safety procedures, and customer service
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with Samsara or similar fleet management systems preferred
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
  • Physically able to support inspections, driving, and outdoor conditions

Work Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday (5:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
  • Weekend hours as needed and communicated each Friday.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Experience:

  • transportation industry: 1 year (Required)
  • Bus Driver - Motor Coach & Shuttle Bus: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CDL (Required)
