What you will do:

Ancestry seeks an exceptional, passionate, and highly motivated intern to join our SEO team this summer. The SEO team is always looking for ways to acquire new users from external search to guarantee the highest level of discoverability for content across digital platforms through content recommendations, site improvements, and education around SEO. As an intern on the SEO team, you will work on business-critical projects and gain relevant work experience.

• We are looking for someone to complement our team’s skills with a focus on technical SEO initiatives that someone with a computer science or other relevant technical path can help solve

• You will help define and execute on a project that leverages the large quantity of data at Ancestry to allow us to rank for new keywords that are relevant to our business

• Working in cooperation with various Ancestry marketing and technology teams, you will learn the core principles of SEO as you assist with:

  • Technical SEO: Assist in prioritizing audit fixes and teams to identify and address issues in an impactful manner for international web properties

  • On-Page Optimization: Optimize website content on international web properties. This includes optimizing page titles, meta descriptions, and header tags

  • Keyword Research & Analysis: Conduct keyword research to identify relevant and high-potential search terms for the blogs. Help analyze data to identify trends, insights, and areas for optimization

  • Reporting & Analysis: Support in monitoring and refining SEO performance. Assist in generating SEO performance reports using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console

Who You Are:

• Computer science or software engineering focus with an interest in marketing technology

• Passionate for digital marketing and eagerness to learn

• Positive team player and an enthusiastic work ethic

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Collaborative, analytical and adaptable mindset

• A basic understanding of SEO principles and concepts

• Knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, Google Search Console, Google Trends, and other SEO research tools

Internship Program Details:

• Students must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. educational institution with a graduation date after August 2024.

• Summer 2024 program dates are May 13 – September 6 (Please note we will have three intern onboarding dates to choose from: May 13th, May 28th, and June 10th. Students may offboard every Friday, beginning August 9th. All internships must be wrapped up by September 6th).

• FULLY PAID temporary housing and travel to and from the internship are provided.

• All summer internships will be in Lehi, Utah. You will work a combined hybrid and office-based schedule that allows you to choose which days you come into the office and which days you work from temporary housing/home (Utah students).

• Interns have the opportunity to network and partner with other interns and industry-leading professionals.

• You will participate in engaging events, including executive speaker sessions, professional development, and our annual Intern Days to showcase your project and work.

• You will be required to work a full-time schedule (40 hours/week), Monday-Friday.

• Company-issued laptop and equipment will be provided for the duration of the internship program.
