About Heval Café

Heval Café is a specialty coffee concept focused on high-quality espresso, fresh pastries, and a minimalist takeaway coffee experience. “Heval” means friend, and our café is built around the idea that great coffee should feel like a daily companion.

Located in downtown Toronto, we aim to deliver carefully crafted drinks, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who walks through our doors.

We are looking for passionate and reliable baristas who care about coffee, hospitality, and teamwork.

Key ResponsibilitiesCoffee & Beverage Preparation

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, espresso beverages, teas, and specialty drinks according to company recipes and quality standards
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment properly
• Steam milk and maintain proper texture and drink presentation
• Ensure consistency and quality in all beverages served

Customer Service

• Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming café experience
• Take orders accurately and efficiently
• Answer customer questions about drinks, menu items, and ingredients
• Address customer concerns in a professional and friendly manner
• Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment

POS & Cash Handling

• Operate POS systems for order processing and payment transactions
• Handle cash register transactions accurately
• Process debit, credit, and mobile payments
• Maintain accurate cash handling and basic math skills during transactions

Food Preparation

• Assist with simple food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, pastries, and snacks when needed
• Ensure proper food handling practices are followed
• Maintain food presentation and freshness standards

Cleanliness & Organization

• Maintain cleanliness of the coffee bar, equipment, and customer areas
• Clean espresso machines, grinders, and brewing tools regularly
• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
• Keep workspaces organized and stocked throughout the shift

Inventory & Operations

• Restock cups, lids, milk, syrups, and other supplies as needed
• Assist with inventory management and notify management when items are running low
• Support opening and closing duties including preparation and cleaning tasks
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth café operations

Health & Safety

• Follow food safety procedures during preparation and service
• Comply with all health and safety regulations
• Help maintain a clean and safe working environment for staff and customers

Qualifications

• Previous barista or café experience preferred (1+ year is an asset)
• Familiarity with espresso machines and coffee preparation techniques
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
• Weekend and morning availability preferred
