Dsp (Direct Support Professional)

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position involves fostering independence, promoting personal growth, and ensuring the well-being of clients in a compassionate and respectful manner. The DSP will work closely with individuals to implement care plans, assist with daily living activities, and uphold resident rights.

Duties

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
  • Monitor and record vital signs as needed, ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
  • Provide support in social and recreational activities to enhance community integration.
  • Uphold resident rights by promoting dignity, respect, and autonomy for all clients.
  • Assist clients with mobility and physical tasks, including lifting when necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid as required while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure comprehensive care and support for individuals.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols and ability to follow care plans effectively.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
  • Certification in First Aid is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • Ability to lift clients safely when required and assist them in mobility tasks.
  • Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals served.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate client schedules.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
