The Tax and Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the hospital complies with all tax obligations and regulatory requirements in an accurate and timely manner. This includes compliance with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), local government units (LGUs), and other relevant regulatory bodies. The role also oversees the hospital’s tax reporting, documentation, and compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including VAT, withholding taxes, expanded withholding taxes, and corporate income tax.
- Review tax computations, schedules, and supporting documents prior to submission to the BIR.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants for annual audits and tax assessments.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the hospital’s compliance with BIR regulations, LGU requirements, and other government agencies.
- Monitor updates on tax laws, revenue regulations, and other relevant government issuances.
- Recommend updates to internal policies and procedures based on regulatory changes.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and review tax and financial compliance reports for management.
- Maintain complete and organized records of tax filings, permits, and compliance documents.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
Process Improvement
- Develop and implement improvements in tax compliance processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify potential tax and compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Team Supervision
- Supervise and guide tax and compliance staff.
- Review outputs for accuracy and provide coaching, feedback, and performance support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or a related field.
- Preferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) but not required.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine taxation laws and BIR regulations.
- Experience in audit coordination and regulatory reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
