obodo is a community-driven fitness space in Cork built on movement, connection and long-term health.

We deliver group training, personal training, events and specialist classes in a supportive, no-ego environment. We are growing and evolving, with a strong focus on systems, coaching standards and member experience.

We are seeking a confident, organised and people-focused Gym Manager to cover maternity leave and support the continued smooth running of the business.

The Role

This is a leadership and operations role.

You will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day running of the gym is smooth, structured and professional, while supporting sales, retention and team accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Communication

• Lead weekly team meetings
• Conduct weekly check-ins with coaching staff
• Ensure coaches are meeting standards and completing gym duties
• Support positive team culture and accountability

Operations & Administration

• Organise monthly class schedule (published in advance)
• Manage holiday and sick cover planning
• Track staff hours and prepare monthly payroll submissions
• Liaise with cleaners, maintenance providers and suppliers
• Oversee gym jobs and facility standards
• Manage invoicing and basic admin

Sales & Member Experience

• Follow up with new leads and trial members
• Track conversions and maintain sales dashboard
• Conduct regular member feedback check-ins
• Support upsells (PT, packs, new classes)
• Help maintain strong retention levels

Programme Oversight

• Work alongside Head Coach to ensure programming is aligned
• Support delivery and retention of specialist classes (e.g. MummyFit, Mature Movers)
• Coordinate with marketing to align campaigns with schedule priorities

Hours & Structure

• 20 hours per week (flexible distribution across week)
• On-site presence required
• Some evening availability may be required
• Fixed-term contract (12–18 months)

Essential:

• Strong organisational skills
• Leadership or supervisory experience
• Clear communication skills
• Comfortable with basic spreadsheets and admin systems
• Commercial awareness

Desirable:

• Experience in fitness, sport or wellness
• Sales or customer service experience
• Experience managing schedules or teams
